PENNE ROCCO

Penne pasta is known for its distinctive short tubular pasta shape cut on an angle. Penne Pasta can come smooth or ridged dependent on brand, but here at Rocco we care about our products and can assure you all our pasta is excellent quality. Our Penne pasta comes in a white plastic packaging, where straight away you can see the quality within the pasta before even sampling it.

With the most history, the term ‘Penne’ comes from the Italian meaning of ‘feather’, referring to a quill. When the name was first created, it was intended to describe the term for a ‘fountain pen’, which explains the cut shape of the pasta. Penne is the plural form of the Italian ‘Penna’, deriving from Old Latin. Penne pasta was first established in 1865 by Giovanni Battista Capurro, a local Italian from San Martiono. He invented a machine to cut pasta into a pen shape without crushing it. 150 years later, this shape of pasta is one of the most valued pastas in supermarket history.

Our 500g bag of Penne pasta is great for quick and easy dinners for you and your family. So, if you are making a thick pasta sauce, a pasta bake or a yummy pasta salad, Rocco’s Penne pasta is the perfect match for your kitchen’s needs.
